Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong adds a touch of luxury to the Movember Hong Kong campaign

Known as one of the most exclusive luxury hotels in the world, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong is a five star urban oasis in the heart of Hong Kong.  We are beyond excited that Mo Bros and Mo Sistas in Hong Kong can win a taste of this exquisite masterpiece as part of this year’s 2019 fundraising campaign.

The hotel is also an exemplar of how, recognising the need to create more awareness of men’s health issues across their own staff teams, they have galvanised employees in order to improve staff health, welfare and education.

Read on to learn how this committed team is gaining mo-mentum across their entire business, both internally and externally, all in aid of helping men to live longer, healthier and happier lives.

The Mo-st Fundraising

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has been supporting the Movember campaign in Hong Kong for four years with some fabulous initiatives, including in 2018 offering a star prize for Hong Kong’s top fundraiser.  Following on from this highly successful campaign, the hotel is offering Movember supporters in Hong Kong some once-in-a-lifetime prizes.

Hong Kong’s highest individual fundraiser will win an Amber full dinner experience with wine pairing for two people at this renowned, two-Michelin-starred progressive restaurant; the vision of chef Richard Ekkebus who is also a steadfast supporter of the Movember campaign.

The next highest fundraiser will receive a 90-minute Oriental Essence massage for two people in the Sanctuary Suite at the Oriental Spa at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.  The Sanctuary Suite is designed with a private amethyst crystal steam room, relaxing vitality tub and private vanity.

Diners at the hotel’s renowned MO Bar can also raise funds for Movember with monies being donated to this year’s campaign, for sales of specially crafted smoothies and desserts.

Mo Fun for Colleagues Too

But the support doesn’t stop here.  Departments across the entire hotel have been invited to create their own Movember teams.  So far, 32 teams have signed up to join the Movember Challenge.  Each team comprises 3-5 colleagues and must include at least one guy!

Mo Step Challenge.  Team members will calculate their daily steps across the entire month.  The team with the most accumulated steps will win an F&B voucher.

Mo In Body Score.  The teams will also be invited to have their overall ‘in-body’ score calculated at the beginning of November using the spas in-house fitness assessment system.  The team with the most overall improved ‘in-body’ score will win one spa treatment per team member.

Richard Ekkebus, chef and mastermind behind the Amber dining concept, has been personally supporting Movember of five years, and explains, “We all know that people in the hospitality industry work hard and play hard, and it’s often these situations where we can tend to ignore or dismiss crucial health issues.  It’s really important to us to be part of the Movember story and encourage our men, and women, to talk more openly about their health, seek advice, get more fit and seek out a healthy balance.  The Movember platform has created a timely opportunity for us to get Mo involved and build education and awareness with a good dose of fun thrown in for good measure!”

Jill Goh, general manager at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong shares her thoughts on the special affiliation between the hotel and Movember.  “Not only does the Landmark Mandarin Oriental (MO) have a wonderfully natural name fit, but more importantly, we also appreciate that acknowledging health issues that affect men and women, and supporting the overall health and wellness of our colleagues, is a top priority.  Movember allows us to create the awareness, make it educational and turn this education and support into a fun and rewarding activity for the entire team. In addition, to create an opportunity for us to engage with the wider Hong Kong community and encourage their involvement in the Movember campaign.  We are looking forward to a month full of fun-draising, friendly competition and fantastic moustaches!”
