Our good friends and top fundraisers at Beef & Liberty Hong Kong have been supporting the Movember campaign for the last five years, encouraging men across Hong Kong to have mo fun at the same time as getting serious about men’s health.  We spoke to Uwe Opocensky, Beef & Liberty’s Group Executive Chef and Movember Team Captain, to find out why.

"Movember is and will always be an important charity for me. This year has seen a lot of sad stories within the restaurant industry. Paul Bocuse, Anthony Bourdain, Jonathan Gold, Joël Robuchon all left this world too early.

“The hospitality world, especially a chef’s life, can be lonely and exhausting, probably the one trade in which work-life balance does not exist. We do not spend the holidays with our families, we do not get to see our children as much as we want, we do not get the time off we need, social media pressure and so on, all these factors can lead to some devastating mental states and therefore I take part and raise money for The Movember Foundation with my team Mo’ Beef Mo’ Liberty every year.”

Uwe chose an Impossible™ plant-based burger as part of this year’s fundraising campaign because Movember encourages men to care about their health, including what they put into their bodies, which is important for everyone, not just men. “I wanted to focus on health with our Movember burger special this year by making it plant-based and with vegan friendly ingredients”, explains Opocensky.

The Mo’ Burger this year at Beef & Liberty is an Impossible™ Chorizo Burger crafted with Impossible™ meat made from plants, spiced with chorizo flavours, topped with guacamole, vegan cheddar cheese, pickled jalapenos, chilli, coriander, butter lettuce and vegan sour cream priced at HK$148 of which HK$5 will be donated to The Movember Foundation.

The fun doesn’t stop at burgers!  Throughout Movember, HK$5 of every Brooklyn Beer will be donated to The Movember Foundation as well as HK$20 of every All Saints Estate Pinot Grigio & Sangiovese Cabernet wine by Tap Wine Co.

And to top off the month, the official End of Mo’ Party takes place on 28 November 2018 at 7pm at Beef & Liberty, Lan Kwai Fong.
